On Land and In-Water UXO Operations

Drafinsub has a strong background in On Land and In-Water UXO Operations, providing UXO survey and mine clearance, for both land and marine

ordnance, since 1991.

Altough our first underwater activities in this fields date back in the early ’90s, it’s in the middle of the years 2000 that we expanded our action capabilities in this division, and this branch of the company started growing significantly.

As the involvement in this area started growing, we acquired more and more dedicated appliances and equipment, increasing our capacities and thus our knowledge, learning esponetially with bigger and more complex contracts.

To keep up the pace of grow with the need of certification has been a challange, but we accepted it in full. We carry on our projects with the certificate of approval of the Italian Ministry of Defence for both On land and In-water UXO Operations and we perform more than 20 clearance operations every year (2018-2023) in any kind of environment such as sea waters, inland waters (canals, rivers and lakes) open field and underground complexes.

Our Technical department can design customised solutions to adapt to any situation, thanks to the work of our engineers with the support of UXO Technicians with more than 20 years of experience on the field.

Thanks to this knowledge Drafinsub has been able to perform Marine Ordnance Clearance at a depth of 700msw.

Our skills have so evolved with time and experience and we are now able to offer a wide range of services for both On Land and In-Water UXO Operations, with different types of activities and methodologies:

  • In-Water
    • Surface Remediation (1.2 m depth below the sea bed)
    • Remediation in depth through excavation with auger (10 m depth below sea bed)
    • Assistance for the remediation preparatory excavations
    • Dredging of lakes, lagoons and channels
    • Operations at extreme depths with ROVs
    • Design and manufacture of custom made tools

  • On-Land
    • Surface Remediation (3 m depth)
    • Remediation in depth through excavation with auger (7 m depth)
    • Assistance for the remediation preparatory excavations
