Drafinsub alongside the University of Bari for the defense of biodiversity in the Ionian Sea with Pro.Bio.Mar. initiative.

The Pro.Bio.Mar. project, which sees the collaboration of the Department of Biosciences, Biotechnology and Environment of the University of Bari Aldo Moro, the Municipality of Montegiordano (CS) and the social promotion association Mediterraneo Interiore, intends to protect and restore the marine biodiversity of the seabed overlooking the municipality of Montegiordano (CS) (northern Ionian Sea) through the installation of submerged anti-trawling structures (bollards) and repopulation modules for the implementation of artisanal fishing and sustainable mariculture. To this end, preliminary geophysical and biological investigations were conducted aimed at locating priority species and habitats (e.g. seagrass meadows and marine bioconstructions), preparatory to an effective relocation of the submerged structures. Once the structures have been installed, the biological monitoring phase will begin, aimed at observing the colonization of the artificial substrates and studying the benthic and nektonic biological community that will be structured around the repopulation units and in the surrounding areas.

Drafinsub participated, with personnel and equipment, in the realization of the project, building the two types of artefacts used and placing them in the locations identified by scientists and experts.

A full surface supplied spread has been provided to assist the laydown operations of the blocks, in compliance with the UNI 11366 Standard and the requirements of the Coast Guard, to complete the Pro.Bio.Mar. project as always in a safe and timely manner.
